BLACK at ra

with MoMu, ra presents BLACK - a celebration of the world of black fashion.
from wednesday march 24^th the corridor of ra becomes a shadowy tunnel,
as the entrance into our cave of wonders. fashion designer lena lumelsky
creates this black-hole as the first installment of her black collaboration.

hosting a month of collaborations with fashion designers, artists and performers,
ra delves into the past and the future of the noble shade, exploring black through
installation art, unique fashion and design objects, and conceptual performances.

ra has invited our darkest designers to present unique black garments and accessories
from their archives, including luxurious creations from hannah marshall,
louise goldin, ilya fleet, rad hourani, lion blau, j. smith esquire, aitor throup and john rocha.

BLESS will take to the walls of ra with a one-off black balloon installation, and elise gettliffe
and butterflysoulfire will create sculptural artworks, all to be dotted across the two levels
of the ra space.

akiko murata, verlaine and romain brau will transform the vintage corner with the darkest archives
of thierry mugler, azzedine alaïa, chanel and other great ‘masters of black’.

in the ra kitchen, serdjan stancic will serve a delicious black high tea,
for a gothic spring tea party.

in collaboration with ra printed matter, lena lumelsky has illustrated a limited-edition lightbox
shadow puppet theatre, featuring scenes and characters from 20^th century fashion history.
the black theatre will be available for sale in the ra bookshop and MoMu.
